I’ve gotten quite a bit done today, although nothing that could be counted as housework. Hmm. I’ll do dishes after I get BratzBasher from school. She’s playing in the winter band concert tonight. She’s excited, but she’s worried that the band isn’t ready to perform for an audience. The director is always coming up with colorful ways to criticize the student’s playing — without swearing, mind you. The trumpets are flabby…the snare drum player has discovered the secret to time travel…I’m not sure what all of them mean, but BB thinks it’s hilarious. Of course, she’s not getting the brunt of her teacher’s wrath.
By the way, BB did enjoy A Christmas Carol. When they got back to school, her class studied common illnesses in Victorian England in an attempt to discern Tiny Tim’s ailment. BB thinks it was rickets.
I told The Purple Lady that I’m making pajama pants for Merkin and BB for Christmas. They already know they’re getting them, but they don’t know what the material looks like. PL asked me to make her some, too. I found this cute, purple flannel with monkeys on it. She said she wears a small these days, and I know she’s super short, but I’m pretty sure the pants turned out too small. Sigh. I’m sending them anyway — maybe I’m wrong. If I’m right, and they’re too small, I can make her another pair. I’m also sending her a loaf of banana bread — which I still need to bake — so her package won’t be a big disappointment either way. I had to pick up some pecans, though. That’s the only kind of nut she eats in her banana bread.
What else? I’ve got the latest Jack Reacher novel (The Affair, by Lee Child) waiting for me to read it. I reserved it ages ago at the library, but the waiting list was super long. It’s mine for the next two weeks.
Well, I’m going to see what else I can do before BB gets out of school.
