So I worked another shift at the library bookstore today. I always take a water bottle with me because I can get awfully thirsty over that three-hour stretch. When I got to the store, I set up shop and went to get my water bottle out of my bag so I could have it on hand. It was not there. I remembered setting it on the dining room table, but I figured I must’ve forgotten to put it in my bag. Oh well. I can just buy a bottle from the machine in the staff room. I put up the “Back in 5 minutes” sign and went to the staff room. No machine. It was just gone. I went back to the store and got a styrofoam cup from the coffee machine. Then I went to the drinking fountain to fill my cup. There was a sign on the drinking fountain. It said,
OUT OF ORDER
AAAAARRRGH! Three hours with no water. But wait — that’s not the worst part of my story. The worst part was when I got back to my car and found my water bottle (now warm) on the front passenger seat. I could have just run out to the car and gotten it. Sigh.
